OVERVIEW OF GET KIDS READY

The 4K-Get Kids Ready program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF). Get Kids Ready is designed to support licensed child care centers in delivering elementary school readiness instruction to 4-year-olds in a nurturing, early learning setting, and it's free for families!

 

IMPORTANT DATES

Rising Sun Child Care will be participating in the WI Department of Children and Families "Get Kids Ready" program in the 2026-2027 school year. More details regarding specific start dates and program times will be released when we determine a schedule. ​​​

ELIGIBILITY 

A child is eligible to participate if: 

• They are 4-years-old on or before September 1 of the school year they plan to participate

• The child’s parent or guardian submits an application to participate. Families can either print this application and bring it into Rising Sun, or ask the front desk for a copy!​​

How much does this program cost?​

​The Get Kids Ready Program is free to participating families. This means you won’t pay for that portion of the day dedicated to Get Kids Ready. Families will only pay for hours outside of the program, such as wrap-around care.

What kind of curriculum will be implemented?

Our 4K program follows a structured curriculum aligned with the Wisconsin Early Learning Standards, helping children build essential academic, social-emotional, and developmental skills that prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.

Who will be teaching in the 4K classroom?

​Rising Sun’s 4K classroom will be led by a licensed early childhood teacher who holds at least a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, ensuring your child is learning from a highly qualified professional.

Is Rising Sun’s 4K program full-day or half-day?​​​​​​​​

​Rising Sun offers flexible care options including part-time, full-time, wrap-care, and Summer Camp. Children experience intentional, individualized learning along with social-emotional growth and play-based activities that reflect our whole-child approach to early education.

Will my family have access to before and after school , wrap care?

​Yes! Families enrolled in our 4K program receive priority access to limited before and after school wrap care, helping ensure a smooth daily schedule without needing to arrange transportation or care with another provider.

What happens during the summer or school-closure days?

Since spots are limited, your child will receive priority enrollment in our Summer Camp program. Since Rising Sun remains open during summers and school closures, families won’t need to worry about finding alternate care.
